Payyanur Subramanya Temple is an ancient temple with architectural significance located at Payyannur in the Kannur district in Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya or Karthikeya. Payyanur Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple is one of the three most prominent ‘Maha Subrahmanya’ temples in South India. The principal deity, Lord Subramanya, is represented by a 6-foot-tall idol in this temple. Another fascinating feature is the compound wall, which is 12 feet tall and built in a unique style.
The temple is famous for the Pavithra Modiram, a ring with a unique pattern. It is worn after being sanctified at the temple and is made only against the order, with gold and the holy darbha grass. The temple is located about a Kilometer from the Payyannur railway station and 300m from Skanda Residency.
